When the structure needs attention.

Surface checks along the sides of logs are normal and cosmetic. Through-cracks that allow water to enter the log, and upward-facing cracks on log tops that collect water, need to be sealed. We classify every crack we find.

Some seasonal movement is normal and unavoidable. Elastomeric filler is engineered to accommodate this. It moves with the wood rather than cracking or pulling free.

Normal settling happens in the first 3–5 years as logs compress and moisture equalizes. After that, significant movement, sticking doors, or visible gaps at header joints need professional assessment.

It depends on severity. We assess immediately and give you a straight answer: we will tell you if you need to vacate, which is rare. We don't hedge on structural findings.
